Is your business in tune with a post-COVID-19 world?

Change is the one thing that is always certain and we are living in such a rapidly changing world that our heads are spinning. Fear, financial challenges, and the very nature of how we—as individuals and as businesses—will have to work in the future are challenges we are not sure how to deal with.

Yes, these are uncertain times, but this world has faced dark times before. We need to remind ourselves that the world suffered a financial depression in the 1930s that makes this one pale insignificance. In the last couple of centuries, humanity has faced pandemics, world wars and genocides that took unthinkable numbers of lives.

It could be said that the Covid-19 pandemic has only been this significant because we are globally more connected through the digital age and are able to react collectively and stay internationally informed at the click of a button. I have no doubt that this too shall pass and we will overcome it as well, but without a doubt – the damage it has done will be felt for some time. The question then for SME’s has to be, “Will your business be in tune with a post-COVID-19 world?

Technology
If COVID-19 has reminded us of anything it is that technology and the virtual world are here to stay and are far more significant than many of us were prepared to admit to. Businesses that were already gearing themselves up to run as an online entity are at a massive advantage right now.

Even service-orientated businesses like Plumbers or Electricians would have been far better off if they were geared up with their Social Media and online business systems. At a time that you can’t really sell, you need a database and the capabilities to advise, consult and quote, etc. Many could have been preparing contracts for post-COVID-19, up-skilling themselves and their staff, and preparing new and better ways to do better business.

This is not going to go away post-COVID-19 either – online business is here to stay. We now have the capabilities to do whole exhibitions online, let alone just conferences. So, with travel being the health risk that it may still be, these may become the norm as well as working from home from now on for millions of people. Is your business geared to enable more people to work from home, saving you time and money?

Health and safety
Even when we have fully phased ourselves back to normality, health and safety issues are going to remain as just paramount and businesses need to be geared for this. Wearing masks and social distancing may remain for some time, as well as the necessity to install health and safety equipment like temperature detectors, sanitising stations etc.

Move ahead positively
I am Brendon Saunders, a Business Coach with ActionCOACH Business Coaching – a successful global network of world-class business owners and franchise partners. We define a successful business as: “A commercial, profitable enterprise that works without you. As your Business Coach, I will function as an unreasonable friend who tells it like it is and keeps you working on the path toward your dreams.”

COVID-19 has been disastrous for many businesses, but for those who were mentored and guided by Business Coaches—with a sound business plan—from the start, it will have had significantly less impact. Just one of the areas of advice given to start-up businesses is to always have at least a 3 to 6-months financial ‘cushioning’ for just such events.

Regardless of the past and whatever the impact it has been on your business, there is no time like the present to get started on new dreams and goals. If you want to ensure that your business is in tune with a post-COVID-19 world, speak to an ActionCOACH Business Coach today for a FREE, NO OBLIGATION consultation. Find out how you can change the way you do business post-COVID-19 to achieve the results you deserve!

In the interim, stay positive and stay safe!
