Business Risk: What aren’t they telling you?
Silence in your Leadership Team could be holding your business back!
If you’re moving fast in business, that’s usually a good sign. It means you’re growing, expanding, pushing forward.
However, if your Leadership Team isn’t speaking up while things are moving at pace, you’re not just going fast, you might be heading straight into risk.
This is something many successful business owners and leaders miss.
You walk into a meeting, share your ideas, your plans, your direction and your team nods. There’s no pushback. No questions. No challenge.
On the surface, that might feel like alignment and agreement, but if no one’s saying what they really think, that silence could be your biggest liability.
At scale, silence is not politeness, it’s a danger signal.
The faster your business moves, the more dangerous it becomes when your top people don’t speak up.
Your executive team should be your first line of protection, not just for strategy and performance, but for helping you avoid blind spots. If they’re not challenging your thinking, they’re not protecting the business.
So, what do you do?
Try this:
In your next leadership meeting, ask this question:
“What do you disagree with but haven’t said out loud?”
Then stop talking & let your question settle.
Give people time to think. Give them permission to be honest.
When someone speaks up, reward the honesty.
Don’t defend. Don’t react. Just listen and thank them.
High-performance teams aren’t built on agreement. They’re built on trust, and trust includes being able to disagree without fear.
