Leadership is as old as time. From the caveman era (where a hierarchical structure was identified to ensure the tribe thrived) to the more modern-day monarchy (and endless debate as to whether we should emulate billionaire idols as leaders) and the closely watched pandemic leadership to see if those elected could keep us safe – we, as a species, have always had leaders.

Similarly, the concept of management has also been around for thousands of years, management approaches dating as far back as 3000BC, a time in which records of business dealings were first recorded.

But what is the difference between ‘leadership’ and ‘management’? How have these two concepts evolved, and is there still a place for both?
